Almost immediately after my arrival in the City of Brotherly Love, I had to go try some famous Philly Cheesesteaks. Geno’s and Pat’s are the places to go.
Pat’s is regimented to a T. There are directions about how to order posted near the line. You order your sandwich ”wit” or “wit-out” onions, and choose a cheese.
We got cheese wiz.
Geno’s was all glamour, with nothing to back it up.
I got provolone on this one, it was mostly onions and little steak. Almost 1/2 as much meat.
Pat’s was incredible while Geno’s wasn’t. Had I only tried Geno’s, I would have been disappointed in the Philly Cheesesteak concept. And now I know why the hometown crowd is either with one or the other.
The less glamorous, and more serious Pat’s, wins out.
More to come…
